Whether you just purchased a gift certificate or are thinking about getting one, odds are you probably have a few questions. Hopefully we can answer them here! Here are our most frequently asked questions about our gift certificates:
Q: I just ordered a gift certificate online and got my PayPal receipt, but I can’t find my gift certificate! When will I get it?
A: Gift certificates are emailed immediately upon completion of your transaction. If it’s not in your inbox by now, then check your junk box. Still not there? Send us an email at email@example.com and we can send it again!
Q: Help! The expiration date printed on this gift certificate is TODAY! Is that correct?
A: Gift certificates are good for 6 months from the date of purchase, and 6 packs are valid for 12 months. Sometimes if you have an outdated plug in or some software on your computer/device that needs updating, then it won’t print up correctly and that “expiration date” language doesn’t show up on the printed gift card. You can try to print it again by downloading it on a different device and then printing, but it’s not necessary either: we have a record of the date of your purchase, so the 6 month or 12 month expiration clock starts ticking at that point. You’re good!
Q: I don’t have a PayPal account – can I still purchase a gift certificate online?
A: Yes. PayPal is just our processing company for our online sales. Scroll down a little ways on that PayPal page and click on the link that says “Pay with Credit or Debit Card.” No account needed!
Q: I didn’t realize that my gift certificate expired! Is it too late to use it?
A: Life happens, y’all. We get it. Give us a call and we’ll see what we can do to get you scheduled and still use all or part of this gift card to get you that massage that you’ve needed for way too long!
Q: Can I just show you my gift certificate on my phone or do I need to print it up?
A: We’re still just a little old-fashioned over here and check paper receipts at the end of the day. It’s a lot easier for us if you could please download and print it prior to your session so we can make sure this gift certificate gets tracked correctly and credited to your account. Not doing so might result in an accidental overcharge to your account and we definitely don’t want to do that!
Q: What if the length of time I’d like to book is different than the time or amount on my gift certificate?
A: We’re happy to work with you to find a length of time that fits your needs. If you have a 30 minute gift certificate (for example) and would like a longer session, you can use that gift card for partial payment at the time of service, and then pay the difference for the longer massage. If you have a longer massage certificate, or an amount of money that is greater than the cost of your session, then you can use that gift card to pay for your full session at that time, and then have a remaining credit for any follow up sessions. The expiration date will not change, however, even if you have used a portion of the gift certificate and have a balance leftover – so come see us sooner rather than later!
(Think of it like a gift card to a big box chain store — you can use it to pay for the cost of a smaller item and then have a balance leftover, or you can use it as partial payment for a bigger item and then pay the rest yourself. Same idea!)
Q: It was a sweet gift, but I just don’t think I’m going to use this gift certificate for myself. Can I give it to someone else to use?
A: (Full disclosure: my husband doesn’t like massage either, and he’s married to the owner of the best massage studio in town! I don’t get it, but I guess massage isn’t for everyone. No judgement!) This is your gift certificate to do whatever you want to with it! If someone gets you a Target card (for example), you can still give it to someone else to use, right? Same here. Just give us a call ahead of time so we know why Person A is coming in with a gift certificate that has Person B’s name on it, so no one is surprised when they get here. — The ONLY exception to this is 6 packs: if you have already started a session or two on your 6 pack membership, that package is non-transferable.
Q: Can I share a 6 pack with someone? What about if I want to bring my partner/spouse/friend in for a couple’s massage with me?
A: We love that you want to share your positive experiences here at Soma with the people that you love, but 6 packs are valid for only one person for the duration of that package. It’s too hard to track in our system otherwise, but more importantly: with such a steep discount on massages in these packages, we are hoping to attract a client who is looking for a long-term relationship, and not just a discount massage. Q: Do you sell gift certificates in person or is it only online?
A: We sell paper gift certificates in our office, but it is recommended to call ahead to set up an appointment for us to meet you! We are a small business without a full time front desk person, so if you come during a time when all therapists are in a session, it’s possible that you may be stuck in the hallway until we finish with our clients! We would be happy to meet you in person, but please let us know ahead of time so we don’t miss you!
